The Story

The cycle of farming is eternal: plough, sow, harvest, and make sure every mouth is fed. You begin in a two-room wooden hut with your spouse and a plot of land that produces nothing on its own. Over fourteen rounds you clear fields, raise fences, buy livestock, extend the house and grow your family — while your neighbours reach for exactly the same things. Life on the farm is simple and unforgiving, and the winter never waits for you to be ready.

Game Mechanics

Agricola is the game that defined worker placement. Each family member takes one action per round, and once an action space is claimed, it is gone until the next round.

• Worker placement — one action per family member, first come, first served.
• Family growth — more workers means more actions, and more mouths to feed.
• Occupation and improvement cards — hundreds of them, so no two farms develop alike.
• Harvest phase — six times per game you must feed everyone or take begging cards.
• Irrigation — a new water management layer, exclusive to this edition.

Scoring is what makes it bite. You earn points for grain, vegetables, every animal type, pastures, rooms and family members — and you lose points for every category you left empty. A farm that is brilliant at one thing and blank everywhere else will lose to a farm that is merely competent at all of them.

What Makes It Special

Nearly two decades of Agricola content finally lives in one box. This definitive edition, made in collaboration between Lookout Games and Awaken Realms, collects every previously released expansion deck and promo alongside the full Farmers of the Moor expansion, then adds Irrigation, a brand-new module written for this release and available nowhere else. Everything has been rebuilt visually from the ground up, with new artwork and reworked iconography and layouts that make a famously dense game far easier to read at the table. It is Uwe Rosenberg's classic given the full Awaken Realms production treatment.
