Rurik: Dawn of Kiev – Second Edition is a deep, thematic strategy game for 1–4 players set in the age of rival princes in medieval Kievan Rus. Players take on the roles of ambitious leaders seeking to expand their influence, control key territories, and secure the loyalty of the people and nobility. Victory is earned through careful planning, precise timing, and tactical adaptation — not luck.

At the heart of the game lies a unique action‑programming mechanism. Each round, players secretly assign their action tiles to the board. Once revealed, actions are resolved in a fixed order, creating constant tension and rewarding players who can anticipate their opponents’ moves. The strength of each action depends on the resources invested in it, making every decision meaningful and strategically impactful.

The game blends area control, resource management, influence building, and direct player interaction into a cohesive and highly engaging experience. Different regions of the map offer distinct benefits, encouraging players to carefully consider where and how to expand their power. Political schemes and laws introduce additional layers of strategy, allowing players to alter the rules and shift the balance of power during the game.
