Lords of Heaven is a 2-4 player game focused on area control and card placement. As a leader of each of four asymmetrical factions, you will play action cards and perform actions such as build units, fortresses and temples, move troops, fight battles and develop your Middle Eastern holdings.

The game is a clever mix of competition and cooperation between two faction blocks - Christian and Islamic - where combat and conquest are not always the best way to achieve success. Deeply rooted in the early Crusades, Lords of Heaven is a politically nuanced game that features several short scenarios and a campaign.

Third Crusade Expansion

This expansion brings another part of history to the game - the Third Crusade and with it its leading military leaders, such as Richard the Lionheart and Saladin. It includes new leader cards for each faction, new action cards and new location cards. It also includes a scenario book, which allows you to prepare the game in new ways and thus increase the variability of the initial set up of components.

Hashashin Expansion

The Hashashin AKA Assassins' Order - have no army and no cities to control. Instead, they manipulate minds and sow fear. Their fingers are invisible, they operate behind the scenes, and you never really know who among your ranks might be under their influence.

Playing as the Hashashin is to  offer your services to other players, who can gain a lot from them, even if they never quite know what your real goal is. With special cards that are sold to others for gold, you can help their strategies (counterattacks, assassinations, sabotage, bribes, betrayal, etc.). But it always comes at a price, and it's not just the gold.

The Hashashin also build a network of spies and assassins across the map, becoming a parasitic force that is difficult to eliminate. In the game, they use special tokens whose true effects are unknown to other players.
