The Story
The world of Olan Taa has room for one more legend, and the tavern is full of people willing to try. You start with a handful of gold and a seat at the table, hiring Apprentices who barely know which end of the sword to hold. Quest by quest they grow into Experts, and by the third act Legendary heroes walk through the door. Eight quests is all the time you get before the giant Outsider arrives.
Game Mechanics
Dicequest is a dice-pool builder: you don't test your luck here, you assemble it. Every round runs through Income, Tavern and Quest, and your pool is only ever as good as the heroes and gear you bought last time around.
- Four dice types — warrior, marksman, mage and tank, each with its own risk profile.
- Rerolls, runes and hero abilities let you fix a bad roll instead of suffering it.
- Apprentices level up into Experts, then retire into Achievements and score points.
- Limited backpack space forces you to drop items and keep your build sharp.
Quests demand specific symbols and hand out wounds in return, and a deadly wound drops a hero on the spot. The quest can still succeed with your whole party on the floor — what counts is the objective, not the casualties. Play competitively for victory points, or turn to the co-op and solo modes and bring down all three bosses.
What Makes It Special
Most dice games ask you to accept the roll. This one hands you the tools to argue with it: every result is a starting point, and the real decision is how far to push before you settle. Setup is quick and the rules are light enough for a family table, but the puzzle underneath rewards a group that likes to optimise. Designed by Jochen Eisenhuth with cover art by Miguel Coimbra, it funded on Gamefound in eleven minutes and closed at over 1000% of its goal.
