The storybook is the foundation of the campaign mode, featuring a thematic narrative with each scenario lasting approximately 45 minutes. To enhance replayability, additional difficulty levels are available for a greater challenge.

Each character has a unique deck of multi-purpose cards that allow them to climb, jump, and glide across the board in various ways. The remaining cards in a character's deck represent their grip on the leviathan’s body; if the deck runs out, the character loses their grip and falls down the game board until they reach a rest spot, which resets their deck. Rest spots also offer opportunities to regain grip without falling. Other rest areas may reduce a character’s health, grip, or increase blight, a condition that lowers their total health points.

The leviathan has its own deck of cards that triggers different effects at the start of each player turn—ranging from targeted attacks that reduce health to effects that move players across the board. Over the course of the game, the leviathan gains "fury," which intensifies the impact of its event cards.

Players navigate the leviathan's body, covered by a square grid, by spending action points and ability cards to reach crystals and reduce their number to zero. Victory is achieved by destroying all the crystals.
